for a better future, the students of St. Benedict’s has done well in
both versions education and sports.
During the last three years students have excelled in sports also
came up with fine exam results which were appreciated by everyone. These
are the factors that gave the impression for old boys to honour the boys
who keep the Bens flag flying.
On the sporting field the Bens have made great strides during the
year 2007.
They made special performance in the field of Athletics winning the
overall championship at the all island Athletic Championship for the
year 2007 making history for the college. Many medals were won in

coming athlete.
These two athletes also performed well at the recently concluded

The Bens also produced many soccerites during the past three years, said
Director Bro. Granville Perera.
The college’s coaches have done a fine job in producing many national
players in different age groups. Infact some of them had the opportunity
of captaining the national teams. Soccer has been the most famous sport
in the school right throughout.
This sport, has brought many trophies to the college while producing
the best soccerites for the country. Cricket and Hockey standard which
was at a higher level in the past, saw a decline but with the coaches
and masters-in-charge have taken great care and improved the games.
This year the teams have shown a superb cameback and is sure to
regain the former status. Tennis, Basketball, Swimming and Dance sport
too were given prominence in the school but could not reach great
heights in the recent past.
But dance sport was one sport that saw Sumedha Rukmal came
brilliantly to win many awards. Director pointed out that with this sort
honouring the students are sure to take great strides in the field of
sports to bring more accolades to the school.
All students who performed well were hosted to a dinner by the
