England cruise to 258/5

Vaughan misses a well deserved ton:

When England seemed to be consolidating and heading for a big score, the taking for the second new ball by skipper Mahela Jayawardena changed the complexion and brought Sri Lanka back into the picture and when play ended with three more overs to be bowled owing to bad light England were 258 for 5 on day one of the Second Test at the SSC ground, yesterday.

Controversy should have gone to 3rd Umpire - Vaughan

Sri Lanka coach Trevor Bayliss said that his team had shown great character in staging a good late rally to reduce England to 258 for 5 in their first innings on the opening day of the second Test match which got underway at the SSC ground in Maitland Place yesterday.
