President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa who arrived in Japan yesterday on an official visit, being welcomed by Japanese children. The President and the First Lady also visited the Yomizu Dera Temple in Kyoto. President Rajapaksa presented a Buddha statue to the Temple’s Chief Incumbent.


President to hold talks with Japanese leaders today

PRESIDENT Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to meet Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda and Emperor Akihito here in Tokyo today. President Rajapaksa will have a tight schedule on Monday, starting with an official meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Koumura at the Imperial Hotel before heading to the Imperial Palace in the Akasaka area.

Chennai Police arrest Sea Tiger, two others

An LTTE Sea Tiger and two others who had attempted to procure a boat for the outfit, have been arrested by the police in Chennai. Police also seized Indian and Sri Lankan currency worth Rs 478,000 from them.
