Sixteen Tigers killed

Sixteen LTTE terrorists were killed and three soldiers were reported injured on Saturday during confrontations in Mannar, Vavuniya and Jaffna.

In a confrontation in Kallikulam, Mannar around 8.00 a.m., ground Troops confirmed that four terrorists were killed while many were severely injured, the Media Centre for National Security said.

A soldier was injured around 9.45 a.m. due to the explosion of an anti- personnel mine during a search operation conducted in the Kurisuddikulam area in Vavuniya.

In the other incident, troops confirmed that 10 terrorists were killed when they retaliated LTTE mortar fire during a confrontation in Periyathampane area. Two soldiers were reported injured in the incident. Troops also confirm that two terrorists were killed around 5.45 p.m. when they observed some terrorists and launched an attack in the Kilali FDL in Jaffna.
