House of Commons debate does not reflect British Govt's view:

Foreign Affairs Minister Rohitha Bogollagama yesterday assured the Parliament that not even a semblance of foreign interference in the internal affairs of the country will be allowed under President Mahinda Rajapaksa's administration.

Mahanayake tells Archbishop of Canterbury:

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is now steering the country's administration on the right track, hence it was the bounden duty of the clergy and religious leaders to extend the hand of support and not interfere with the administration, and bring undue pressure and distract him from the course he is following bringing the country back to normalcy, said Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Ratanapala Thera.

BoC records Rs. 5.9b profit for 2006

The Bank of Ceylon's annual income increased by 29 per cent from Rs 27.32 billion to Rs 35.10 billion in 2006 which is more than double the corresponding increase of 14 per cent in the previous year, its Chairman Udayasri Kariyawasam said.
