Sripathi asked to appear in Court in August

Wickremasuriya yesterday directed former Minister Sripathy
Sooriyaarachchi, who is alleged to have misused Government property to
appear in court on August 21.
Earlier Sooriyaarachchi was granted bail by the Avissawella High
Court. The CID filing a further report yesterday told court that they
are seeking the advice of the Attorney General in connection with their
investigations and statements recorded.
Sooriyaarachchi was taken into custody by officials of the Criminal
Investigation Department (CID) in connection with misusing a vehicle
belonging to the Postal and Telecommunications Department.
Senior State Counsel Ms. Menaka Wijesundera appeared with the CID for
the Attorney General.
President's Counsel Tilak Marapana with Nalin Ladduwahetty, Nelanthi
Peiris, Methsiri Paranavitharana, Jayantha Samarakoon, Ranjith Pigera
and B.P. Heenkanda instructed by Messrs Paul Ratnayake Associated
appeared for suspect Sooriyaarachci.
The case will be called again on August 21. |
