Nawaloka unveils new cardiac machine

COLOMBO: Nawaloka Hospitals Limited unveiled their latest
acquisition, a flat panel Cardiac Catheterization laboratory equipped
with Allura Xper FD 10 interventional X-Ray system, which is expected to
revolutionalise treatment in Cardiac and Vascular interventional
procedures in Sri Lanka.
Hospital General Manager Professor Lal Chandrasena at a press
briefing last Sunday said, this unique system developed by Phillips
would improve efficiency, safety and optimize work flow of the patient
and staff.
He emphasized the importance of diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Diseases of this nature have become a menace due to rapid changes in
lifestyles in the modern era. "They have to be prevented and treated
efficiently," he said.
This unit a first in the country will improve the clinical outcome in
Cardiac surgery with its superb image quality, while reducing patient
dose.
In addition, it provides multiple views improving treatment planning,
intervention and a radar like mechanism to ensure absolute patient
safety.
Simply this machine would help to make procedures faster and safer,
Prof. Chandrasena said.
According to the Professor, the hospital has done over 12,000
Angiograms and nearly 7,000 open heart surgeries up to now. |
