Foreign teams for Cathay Sixes
CRICKET: Cathay Pacific Airways Colombo is organizing a
Six-A-Side cricket tournament among the staff members of different ports
of Cathay worldwide. This tournament is held in Sri Lanka for the very
first time and it is also the first time Cathay, Colombo staff is
participating in this tournament. The event will take place on the
November 10, 2006 at CCC.
The tournament is an annual event in the Cathay calendar and 12 teams
from countries such as India, Pakistan, UAE Bangladesh, South Africa,
Bahrain and Sri Lanka are scheduled to take part.
"The event is conducted to build team spirit and rapport among Cathay
Pacific staff members in the region and to give them a break from their
busy and demanding schedules. We believe sports lay a great platform to
build human relation and goodwill among destinations. Sports can
transcend borders and therefore, Cathay Pacific management in all
destinations come together to promote this type of activity on a yearly
basis.
Cathay staff members from the aforesaid destinations will be visiting
Sri lanka to take part in the tournament and their families and friends
will join to cheer respective teams. A champion's trophy and a
runners-up trophy will be awarded and star performers will get Best
Batsman, Best Bowler and Bestwoman awards. A significant point of the
event would be the fact that most of the teams are going to be a
combination of males and females.
Cathay Pacific has been organizing this event for many years to build
bridges among its staff. In its 60 anniversary year too, the fifth
largest carrier in the world Cathay Pacific Airways is committed to its
staff development and contentment, as it has been from its inception. |
