Solidarity and friendship

BERUWALA: Paul De Lew a wealthy social worker from the
Netherlands in collaboration with the Beruwala Urban Council has drawn a
programme to develop the Beruwala urban areas and promote solidarity and
friendship between the people of the Netherlands and Beruwala.
Paul handed over this proposed project to Alhaj Mazahim Mohamed,
Chairman, Urban council, Beruwala at a function.
This project is to be implemented within the U.C. area on a request
by Fawmy Makeen Sri Lankan co-ordinator to . Paul De Lew.
Alhaj Mazahim Mohamed, chairman, U.C. Beruwala recognising the
project thanked Paul De Lew and the people of the Netherlands for the
timely step taken by them to develop the area.
Paul De Lew said that he has visited Sri Lanka 19 times and
considered Sri Lanka as a country of brotherens and assisted Sri Lankans
in various ways. Even during the tsunami disaster he helped the victims.
Finally Lew called on the people to co-operate with the official
concerned to implement the said project despite the political and
religious differences.
He also thanked his Sri Lankan co-ordinator Fawmy Makeen for the
assistance and the guidelines he provided to implement this project
during the past tsunami.
Former Parliamentarians Bandula Parakrama Gunawardana, Lakshman
Vijemanne and Sujantha Hathwella, secretary, U.C. Beruwala also spoke.
Hassan Fassy, vice chairman urban council, Beruwala, A.C.P. Mohamed,
Munawwar Rafaideen Thajudeen Anas, U.C. members and Dr. Amal Gamage,
D.M.O. Beruwala were also present. |
