Wilpattu will not be closed to visitors
Agriculture, Irrigation and Environment Minister
Maitripala Sirisena yesterday said the Government will not close the
Wilpattu National Park following the deaths of seven people in an
LTTE landmine explosion in the park on Saturday.

Co-Chairs meet today
The Co-Chair group, Norway, US, EU and Japan,
will meet in Tokyo today to take stock of the current situation and
to do a 'soul searching' of achievements and failures up to date.
The group which will meet at a crucial juncture is expected to
discuss mainly the situation in the North and East and the next
round of talks to which the Government had been trying hard to get
the LTTE's consent to participate, for the past few months.

Security strengthened in Muttur
The Security Forces and the Police yesterday
intensified patrols in Muttur, Trincomalee as Muslims, confused
after leaflets believed to be distributed by the LTTE threatened
them to vacate the area within 72 hours, sought adequate security
from the Government, military sources told the Daily News yesterday.
