Bandara launches book on soccer

Sports journalist Sampath Bandara will launch his latest book, titled "Paapandu Vishwaye Janapriyama Kreedawa" (Football - Most popular game in Universe) at Galadari Hotel tomorrow (31).

Minister of Media and Information, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa will be the chief guest. Prof. Sunanda Mahendra will deliver the keynote address. Editorial Director of ANCL, Karunaratne Paranawithana will also speak. The launching of the book will coincide with the 2006 FIFA World Cup which starts in Germany next month.

The book contains valuable literature on the history of the game, all football playing countries, cities and stadia. Bandara, in his book, has also included a rare collection of soccer pictures and a special chapter on research made about history of football in Sri Lanka.

"Football - Most popular game in universe" is a valuable collector's item, published by Sarasavi Book Shop, Nugegoda. In 2003, Bandara wrote a book on cricket, titled "Cricket Wasantha Kathawa"
