Prevent LTTE from disrupting poll, President tells Norway

PRESIDENT Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has expressed her commitment to a free and fair Presidential Election and the need for the international community to exert pressure on the LTTE to desist from violent activities that may have a disruptive effect on the elections in Sri Lanka.

PM pledges to strengthen pension scheme

PRIME MINISTER Mahinda Rajapakse pledged to re-introduce the Government servants pension scheme abolished in 2002, when he becomes President. More than 170,000 Government officers recruited since then to date, will be included under this scheme.
