Malwatte Chief Prelate by Asela Kuruluwansa Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) leader Anandasangaree who called on the Most Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Maha Nayaka Thera, the Maha Nayaka of the Malwatta Chapter, last Sunday (31) told the Ven. Maha Nayaka Thera that the Interim Administration proposals demanded by the LTTE is totally inconsistent with the Constitution of this country. He said that he has properly understood both the disease and the cure of ethnic problem in Sri Lanka, out of his own experience and that the problem could be resolved through negotiations on proposals for a Federal System of Government for the North and East based on the Federal Systems similar to the ones prevailing in countries like India, Germany and France. The Government and the opposition must arrive at a consensus for this purpose, he said. He also reminded that some time back, the LTTE was agreeable to a federal solution. He urged the Parliamentarians of the Tamil National Alliance to take part in the proceedings of the National Peace Council created by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. The Maha Nayaka Thera also lamented the recent killings committed by the LTTE against EPDP members. |
