Challenges faced by the lawyer in a globalised world

Speech by Minister of Justice and Judicial Reforms W. D. J. Seneviratne at the inaugural session of the National Law Conference 2004 on October 22 at the Trans Asia Hotel, Colombo.

In the absence of law anarchy will take place. In the absence of law, order will cease to exist in society. In the absence of law, the very moral fabric of society will be shred into pieces. It is a practising lawyer who protects the rights of the individual of society. It is a lawyer whose training acumen is used to perfect and finalise proper commercial transactions so that an investor friendly society shall be established providing more employment opportunities to the general public.
