Decomposed body found in cargo

by Asanga Warnakulasuriya

Parts of a decomposed body of a female was discovered among the cargo delivered to a leading shipping firm in Colombo. The detection was made when Ceylon Shipping Lines Ltd. summoned custom officers to break open a box lying in its premises since July 21,1999.The box was addressed to a person in Koswatta. But the company failed to find the recipient at the given address.

Since the box was decaying at the premises, the company decided to destroy the box. The company had called the custom officers to get the box opened. When opened by the custom officers, they found parts belonging to a female body. Maradana Police are carrying out further investigations.
