Tourist arrivals to record all-time high

120 containers awaiting clearance at Colombo Port

One hundred and twenty containers stored in vessels now in the Colombo Port holding over a million pairs of imported shoes for Sri Lanka's Christmas season are awaiting clearance following importers claiming that they cannot clear their cargoes and sell the contents due to the prohibitive import duty slapped by the Government in the 2003 Budget.
