Two arrested for possessing ancient statue

Hemmathagama Police have arrested two persons for possessing an ancient statue, a gun and some precious stones which, Police Media Spokesman SP Buddhika Siriwardena told the Daily News , yesterday.

According to the Police Spokesman the persons have been arrested near the public market in Samapura Road, Hemmathagama with a statue, some damaged stones and a gun with wooden grip and brass reed. The police believe that these items have a high historical value and may have found when the suspects digging for treasure.

These two suspects are residents of Grandpass area, Colombo and Police have arrested a three wheeler, motorcycle and a laptop along with the suspects. The suspects have produced in Mawanella Magistrate Courts yesterday and Hemmathagama Police are investigatigating.
