USUAL PATHETIC CANARD

The new rape canard against the Sri Lankan Forces is as preposterous and ludicrous as the old rape canard about the Sri Lankan Forces. The first accusation that Sir Lankan Forces were using 'rape as a weapon of war', surfaced during the time our gallant soldiers were fighting the LTTE which was resisting with its back to the wall.

The 'rape as war-weapon' charge was borrowed from Congo, and other theatres of war in Africa, where there was clear evidence of troops raping and pillaging, mostly to cow people of invaded countries into submission.

Someone in the Tamil diaspora thought it would be a very good idea to import this horrendous war-crime narrative to Sri Lanka, and try to make it stick to Sri Lankan Forces.

But, the truth unraveled soon, when after Hillary Clinton having unfairly accused the Sri Lankan Forces of using 'rape as a weapon of war', had to retract her statement.

The canard of widespread rape by Sri Lankan Forces eventually got buried in an avalanche of facts that made it obvious that such a thing was preposterous to suggest, particularly about the highly disciplined and professional Sri Lankan Fighting Forces which won, not just a war against terrorism, but a conventional war against the LTTE militia which was using conventional and modern tactics of war.

No conventional war could have been won if the army was using 'rape as a weapon of war' as winning that kind of battle requires discipline and adherence to a strict army regimen. Also, if there was any evidence of such atrocities, the international media would have got to know, as that kind of a tactic of using sexual aggression as a confrontational ploy cannot possibly be concealed.

But now that the war is over, the same diaspora desperados are coming up with the allegations of sexual assault by the Sri Lankan Forces during interrogation of detainees, and in the aftermath of war.

These fictional stories are then carefully farmed out to gullible or prejudiced writers such as Roma Tearne, and organizations such as Human Rights Watch which are notoriously irresponsible and are known to be driven by ulterior motives and hidden agendas.

These new charges of rape and alleged sexual assault by the Sri Lankan Forces are being made with the aid of affidavits, which have been sworn by people who mostly claim that such attacks took place after they were deported from Britain, for overstaying their Visas for instance.

That some Tamils who would rather remain in Britain and enjoy the good life, would be piqued and would produce false affidavits to get themselves a second chance in UK on the basis of being subject to sexual assault and other forms of violence, is obvious.

It is as obvious as the Australian boat people story was obvious. Everybody knew that the bulk of Sri Lankan boat people going to Australia were doing so because they hoped for greener pastures and not because they were being persecuted back home. The opposite editorial article today for instance, has an Australian writer putting this position across beautifully, seemingly with much conviction.

But until the Australian government accepted this position and through its own investigations were able to come to the conclusion that mercenary minded sharks were misleading people putting them on boats in return for cash, Australians and everybody else in the world tended to believe that this 'persecution' story was true.

Now they are talking about the alleged rapes by the army, with the same kind of spurious cock-sureness with which they talked about the stories of the boat people.

A disgruntled Jaffna academic who expected a high post and is now drowning in tears because he did not get it, has recently written that vaginal marks and cigarette butt burns cannot be fabricated, as if he has seen these marks and burns!

These are the lies about physical injuries resulting from rape, that are being fed through affidavits, and for people who got on boats saying they were persecuted, lying in an affidavit about rape is a piece of cake - particularly when they are goaded on by unscrupulous elements of the diaspora to do so.

The Tamil diaspora lives on lies, and everybody knows this to be true -- it is as plain and as fundamental as night turns to day. More can be written about it, but suffice to say that the 'sexual-assault by the army' canard is so fecklessly concocted, that even those who believe it for ulterior motives do so while looking the other way, because of the stink that emanates from a cooked-up story, backed up by the kind of evidence with which one cannot hang a dead rat.
