Construction worker falls to his death

A construction worker fell to his death from a four storied condominium of a garment retailer, a coroner’s inquest was told yesterday.

City Coroner Edward Ahangama held the inquest on the death of Chaminda Sampath Dissanayake, 37, of Kadawatha. Witness Trevor Baizer giving evidence at the inquest said Dissanayake was attending to work on the upper floor of a fashion store. Witness said Dissanayake had fallen and rushed to the National Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Baizer said he was prepared to assist the deceased’s family financially.

AJMO H D S C P Appuhamy who held the post – mortem, attributed the death to multiple injuries to the body.

A verdict accidental death was returned.
