Fonseka faces over five charges

Military Spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasinghe yesterday said more than five charges will be filed against former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka within a few days. This will done in compliance with the provisions of the Army Act before a Court Martial, he said.

Military Spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasinghe yesterday said former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka was given the chance to use a mobile phone since yesterday on the condition that it be used to contact his two daughters only.

Eradication of terrorism the highest reward for country’s women

President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said the Government gave the highest reward to women by eradicating terrorism from the land within a short period. He said women in Sri Lanka underwent a number of hardships and difficulties due to the war and the Government was able to relieve their burden by eradicating terrorism from Sri Lankan soil.
