Govt to set up modern food storage complexes
The Government will set up three food storage complexes with modern
facilities at Galewela, Hambantota and Dambulla shortly.

A Cabinet Memorandum submitted by Minister Dinesh Goonawardene to
this effect was approved by the Cabinet recently.
Accordingly, construction activities of the food storage complexes
will get under way at these locations at a cost of 47 million Euros
provided by the Spanish Bava Bank under the Spanish Export Services
Facilities.
Hambantota storage complex will mainly stock fish in addition to
vegetables and fruits while Dambulla and Galewela will stock vegetables,
fruits and grains etc. These storage facilities once completed will be a
boon to the producers, traders as well as to the consumers, Minister
Goonwardene said. |
