Inaugural Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council Awards presentation on July 29

THE Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council (SLMBC) functioning under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will be organising the first Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Awards presentation.

The presentation of the Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council will coincide with its 11th Annual General Meeting scheduled for July 29 at Holiday Inn Colombo.

This event is open to the SLMBC members only and is organised to recognise the contribution made by the members to the growth of Sri Lanka's economy and to create interest and enthusiasm amongst the members.

The Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council established in 1994 was the 12th Council to be formed. The SLMBC, in keeping with its objectives has embarked on this unique project.

In the past, award presentations have been organised by various trade promotion organisations mainly to recognise the Sri Lankan manufacturing, export and the services sectors.

This is not only the first occasion that those dealing with the Malaysian market are recognised, but also the first occasion that importers, distributors, retailers, banking & financial sectors are identified as important sectors for the promotion of trade.

The Council is grateful to Tilak Gunawardana, who was the brainchild of this project and Dialog Telekom, who are sponsors for this event. Both Gunawardana and Dialog Telekom serve on the committee of the Council.

Awards and certificates will be presented to manufacturers and exporters, travel and hospitality, IT and other business related services, importer/distributor/retailer and transport and infrastructure categories.

The Council has drawn from an eminent panel of judges from 10 prestigious trade/service related organisations. High Commissioner for Malaysia in Sri Lanka Nazirah Binti Hussain, patron of the Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council will be the chief guest on this occasion.
