CCTV cameras homed in over 10,000 crimes during last 15 months
The Police Department has succeeded in
identifying over 10,000 crimes including traffic offences during the
last 15 months with the help of CCTV cameras which have been
installed in the Colombo city, according to Police. Thirty such
crimes have been of a very serious nature including burglaries and
abductions.

DIG Vaas Gunawardena interdicted
DIG Vaas Gunawardena who is in remand over the
alleged involvement in the abduction and murder of a businessman has
been interdicted, Police Media Spokesperson SP Buddhika Siriwardene
said yesterday. SP Siriwardene said the Public Services Commission
had sanctioned the interdiction of DIG Gunewardene.
