Lankan businessman nabbed with 1.5 kgs of heroin

A Sri Lankan businessman was nabbed at the Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday with 1.5 Kg of heroin concealed in his hand luggage. Customs sleuths nabbed the businessman while in possession of heroin worth over Rs. 12 million, during the immigration counter check in at the Airport.

The businessman has told the Custom officials that he was given a bag by an unidentified man at the Chennai Airport to be taken to Colombo.

According to Custom spokesman Leslie Gamini, the heroin was hidden in a bag which was full of cardamoms and cloves. The Custom Narcotics Bureau was to hand over the suspect to Police Narcotics Bureau for legal action. The suspect is a resident of Gampola.
