A Turkish delegation attached to the
Solidarity and Coordination Agency of Turkish Prime
Minister’s Office under the leadership of Turkish Ambassador
to Sri Lanka Iskender K. Okyay, met Productivity Promotion
Minister Basheer Segudawood at his ministry recently. They
held several discussions to find the ways and methods to

Traditional Industries and Small
Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda opened a
new Children’s Unit at the Cancer Hospital of the Jaffna
Teaching Hospital. The Colombo East Rotary Club provided Rs
12.5 million to construct the ward. Jaffna Teaching Hospital
Director Dr Bhavani Pasupathyraja and officials of the
Colombo East Rotary Club were also present. |

Australia and Sri Lanka continued
their cooperation in combating people smuggling and
transnational crime by holding a workshop for Sri Lankan
Magistrates from May 31 to June 2 in Negombo. Justice
Minister Rauff Hakeem and Australia's High Commissioner to
Sri Lanka, Robyn Mudie opened the workshop which was
co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Australia. The workshop included
presentations from Sri Lankan and Australian experts on
obligations under international and domestic legal
frameworks, people smuggling investigations and prosecutions
