Boost for all schools under present govt - SPC Chairman

The government has taken several measures to develop schools in rural
and urban areas during the past years to upgrade the education level in
the country under the guidance of President Mahinda Rajapaksa,
Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Chairman Kanchana Jayaratne said.

Schools in rural areas are today comparatively on par with urban
schools in the availability of facilities and infrastructure under the
direction of Mahinda Chinthana future vision, he said.
Jayaratne was addressing a special ceremony in Eheliyagoda to grant
funds for reconstruction activities of six schools in the electorate
under the Lama Mithuru School Development Programme launched by the
government to upgrade 5,000 primary schools islandwide.
He distributed funds for these schools under the direction of Power
and Energy Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi on a request by National
Languages and Social Integration Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara.
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa has taken measures to
allocate Rs 500,000 per school. Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Eheliyagoda, Tamil
School, Moragala, Bopaththa Vidyalaya, Hewainna Vidyalaya and Kaluindura
Vidyalaya received funds from Jayarathne to upgrade facilities in the
schools.
Jayaratne handed over the funds to Eheliyagoda Divisional Secretary
Ranjanee Dissanayake.
Principals and members of the academic staff were present at this
