Learner-centred education for meaningful learning

learner-centred education. In order to make learning meaningful for our
students we help them become skilled and thinking purposefully
connecting the life experiences to academic learning,” Principal Uduvil
Girls College Shiranee Mills said.
The Principal was presenting her prize day annual report at the
annual prize giving of the College.
Former Vice Chancellor, University of Colombo and Emeritus Professor
of Law, University of Colombo, Prof Savitri Goonesekera was the chief
guest.
Director of Education Thenmaradchy, formerly of the staff of Uduvil
Girls College K. Krishnakumar was the guest of honour.
Bishop Jaffna Diocese Church of South India Rt Rev Dr D. S.
Thiyagarajah presided. Principal Shiranee Mills said, “as a school well
into its 189th year we continue to strive towards an ideal pedagogical
model of teaching that would best serve our student population and their
evolving needs.
To this end our teachers work in three levels to discover the
students uniqueness and their drive.
We provide a stimulating learning environment that would make the
class room a place of activity and interest. We are trying to ensure
that a technology is introduced as a vital tool in the class room that
complements the curriculum,”she said. |
