Maliban Chairman’s Trophy Award Ceremony 2012

The Chairman’s Trophy Award Ceremony for 2012 of Maliban Biscuit Manufactories was held on June 4, 2013 at Earls Court, Cinnamon Lakeside in a gala event. One of the key highlights that were emphasized at this glamorous event is the fact that the company has grown significantly during last three years under the visionary leadership of A. G. R. Samaraweera the Chairman Maliban Biscuit Manufactories (Pvt) Ltd despite the market dynamics that were present.

The event that recognized and honoured the contribution of the sales professionals of the company were graced by Chief Guest, Kumudika Fernando, Managing Directress of Maliban Biscuit Manufactories, A. G. B. Wickramapala, Senior Director, Tharangeetha Samaraweera, Director, Shanaka Wickramapala, Director, Lakshman Weerasooriya, Group CEO, Ravi Jayawardena, CEO Sales and Marketing, Regional and Area Sales Managers and Executives, Distributors and sales representatives as well as the staff of Maliban.

During the ceremony, 27 sales representatives who scored the highest points in The Chairman’s Trophy Competition were awarded cash prizes. The main Chairman’s Trophy was won by G.A.M.R.N.K. Bandara who was able to overcome the competition of 280 other sales representatives to win the prestigious title. Other winners included M.G. Sahan Wismitha, W. Nihal, R. Chandrasekara, S.D.C.R. Samaraweera, M.A. Thilina Kumara, M. Madaiyalagan, J.D. Indrajith, M. Savis and D.A.T. Nishantha as Best SE/SR/DSR/DDSR; Kapila Jayasinghe as the Best Regional Manager; K.D.M. Jayawardana and Dammika Jayasinghe as Best Area Sales Managers; J.S. Withana, Lindula Maheshal, K.P. Asela, J.R.S.H.P Guruge and W.T.N. Fernando as Best Area Sales Executives; Kamal Prasanna as Best Modern Trade Manager; Upali Traders and Upali Agencies (Pvt) Ltd as Best Distributors (Category A); Lakmalee Distributors and Nindagama Distributors as Best Distributors (Category B); N.G.L. Wimalasena, Vijaya Construction, Adam Kandu Suaibu and Darshana Distributors Bandula Yapa as Best Distributors (Category C and D respectively).

The Chairman’s Trophy 2012 was held for the third time since its inception in 2010 and has gone onto introduce many winners each year. The competition acts as a parameter that offers a balanced view that allows sales representatives to gain promotions and progress ahead in the company based on their performances. The main categories taken into consideration at the competition are distribution, primary and secondary sales and the market expiry. Based on these criteria, sales representatives are awarded points to encourage better performance.

Delivering the welcome speech at the event Lakshman Weerasooriya, Group CEO said, “I would like to thank our business partners, distributors and retailers who have given us real support to achieve corporate objectives. All of you have contributed to the company’s profitability and today we share this happiness. I would like to again thank all of you for giving this encouragement and achievement.”

Besides offering a platform to increase sales of Maliban, the Chairman’s Trophy aids to further the ability to achieve the challenging targets of the company, reach outlets and reduce expiry.

Addressing the gathering Ravi Jayawardena, CEO Sales and Marketing emphasized on the importance of team synergy, execution and positive energy while saying “today we are meeting here to recognize and celebrate the Chairman Trophy winners for the year 2012. If you take all the winners they have performed not only one week, one month or one quarter but they have been performing continuously an entire year in all key sales and national parameters. So well done and congratulations.”
