Thurstan triumph

A fine bowling spell of 7 for 43 by Thomian Rumin Gunasinghe could not prevent Thurstan College beating S Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia by one wicket in their inter-school under 15 division two tournament cricket match played at Thurstan Junior grounds.

Batting first Thomians were all out for 112 runs with Udara Ellepola making the highest score of 30 runs while Danushka Fernando claimed 3 for 9 for Thurstanites.

In reply homesters made 113 for 9.

S Thomas – 112 in 41.4 overs (Udara Ellepola 30, Sarith Lihinikaduwa 20 n.o, Danushka Fernando 3/9, Binendra Gunawardene 3/29, Sasindu Adeesha 2/7).

Thustan – 113/9 in 27.2 overs (Sachin Sanjula 20, Danushka Fernando 19, Sandun Sampath 17, Rumin Gunasinghe 7/43).
