Windies in 17 run win over Sri Lanka
West Indies beat Sri Lanka by 17 runs in their
final warm up match played at Edgbaston yesterday. The West Indies
taking the first lease of the wicket rattled up 297 for six wickets
in their 50 overs. Opener Johnson Charles led the way with an
aggresive 55 This was followed by a partnership of 122 runs between
Darren Bravo and Ramnaresh Sarwan before Sarwan retired to give
other batsmen a chance.

Schools should provide special protection for rugby referees,
says SLSRFA
The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association
(SLSRFA) which met yesterday presided over by Ranjith Chandrasekara
took into consideration a report submitted by referee Charith
Kodagoda that he had been assaulted by two spectators after the
conclusion of the St.Joseph’s - Dharmaraja match at Longden Place on
June 1 (Saturday) and decided that the host team should provide
special security for the referee in the future matches.
