Schools should provide special protection for rugby referees, says
SLSRFA
The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) which met
yesterday presided over by Ranjith Chandrasekara took into consideration
a report submitted by referee Charith Kodagoda that he had been
assaulted by two spectators after the conclusion of the St.Joseph’s -
Dharmaraja match at Longden Place on June 1 (Saturday) and decided that
the host team should provide special security for the referee in the
future matches.
They also decided to take disciplinary action against the
Masters-In-Charge of Rugby of both Schools St.Joseph’s and Dharmaraja
for not carrying out their duties properly.
Hereafter, the host teams will be penalized if they failed to provide
full security to the referees. The SLSRFA will submit their decision to
the Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees(SLSRFR) today.
The SLSRFA will also instruct the referees not to begin the match
unless they are satisfied that special security is provided to them and
the visiting team before the commencement of the match.
