Two bodies found
Eheliyagoda and Balangoda Police on Monday found two bodies of men in
Digalawatte and Rassagala. The first body was found in Ambagampala canal
in Digalawatte. The deceased was identified as 57-year-old O M
Gunasinghe of Batangala in the same area.
Police said the man’s wife had given a statement to the Police saying
her husband who went out of their home to participate in a funeral did
not return until the Police alerted her about his death. The other body
was found at a ferry in Hulu Oya Ganga in Thennahena. Police identified
the victim as W P Sudasinghe of Rassagala, Balangoda.
Man dies after falling from motorcycle
An elderly man in Saramulla, Meetiyagoda succumbed to injuries after
falling from the motorcycle he was riding. He succumbed to injuries at
Karapitiya hospital on Sunday.
Initial investigations revealed that 60-year-old B Chandrasena of
Dikela, Batapola had fallen off the motorcycle unable to control it.
Maldivian arrested
Alawathugoda Police arrested a Maldivian staying in Sri Lanka without
valid visa. Acting on a tip- off, the suspect was arrested at
Mawathupola. The suspect, 36-year-old Suleiman Ali was produced before
the Kandy magistrate yesterday.
Brothel raided
Two women were arrested by the Walana Anti-Vice Squad when they
raided a brothel on Kalubowila road in Kohuwala on Monday. One woman had
managed the brothel while the other was employed there.
They were produced before the Gangodawila magistrate yesterday.
Motorcycles seized
Maskeliya STF officers acting on a tip- off, arrested a suspect with
three motorcycles bearing forged number plates in Hatton on Monday. He
was produced before the Hatton magistrate yesterday.
Afagan tourist missing while bathing
Ethukala Police and the life saving units in Negombo commenced a
search operation to find an Afghan tourist who went missing while
bathing at a beach in Ettukala.
The Afghan was 31-year-old Mohommad Naurus Ali.
Investigations revealed that he had arrived in Sri Lanka on tourist
visa and stayed at a hotel near the beach where he went missing while
bathing.
Four treasure hunters nabbed
Maha Oya Police arrested four suspects h
unting for treasure in Aranthalawa forest reserve on Monday.
The suspects who arrived in a car had a laptop with video footage of
archaeologically significant plots in the reserve.
The suspects, residents of Uhana, were produced before the
Dehiattakandiya magistrate yesterday.
