Prison escapee rearrested

A prisoner who fled from the remand cell of the Nugegoda Magistrate Court was rearrested yesterday in Maharagama, Police said.

The suspect known as Sunanda alias 'Sudda' fled from the remand cell l of the Nugegoda Magistrate Court on April 16.

There were 30 cases against him in the Police stations of Maharagama, Homagama, Piliyandala, Pettah and Tangalla in addition to 30 arrest warrants.

The suspect was wanted in connection with violent incidents involving weapons and bombs, Police said.

The suspect will be reproduced before courts.
