Rs 32 m for Batti Hindu Kovils

The government has provided Rs 32.1 million for the development of
Hindu kovils in the Batticaloa district during the last three years,
Assistant Director (Hindu kovils), Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs
Department M. Shanmuganathan said. He disclosed this at a meeting
attended by trustees of kovils held at Batticaloa on Sunday.
He said his department had spent Rs 825,000 for the development of 21
Hindu children's homes in the district.
There are 811 Hindu kovils and 300 Hindu foundations in Batticaloa
district registered with his department, he said.
