Russian ballerina visits Sri Lanka
Russian Ballet Teacher/ Choreographer Oksana Karnovich will be in Sri
Lanka from June 4 to 10 to examine 300 students of the Russian School of
Ballet and Dancing for their examination for the year 2012.
Oksana Karnovich was born on April 20, 1972. In 1982 she entered the
Alma-Ata Ballet School, she studied under the guidance of the teacher
Tamara Kosova, Merited Artist.
In 1986 Oksana Karnovich was transferred
to the Novosibirsk Ballet School where she was under the guidance of
Distinguished Teacher of the RSFSR Alica Nikiforova.
From 1989-1991 Oksana Karnovich worked at Novosibirsk Opera and
Ballet, from 1994-1995 she worked at the State Theater of Classical
Ballet under the direction of Natalia Kasatkina and Vladimir Vassilev.
In 1995 Oksana Karnovich joined "The Imperial Russian Ballet"
(President - Maya Plisetskaya, artistic director - Gedeminas Taranda)
and worked there till 1999.
Oksana Karnovich wokred in collaboration with a team of "Russian
Seasons" under the direction of Nicholay Androsov, where she performed
principal roles in ballet performances "The Rite of Spring" by I.
Stravinsky and "Bolero" by M. Ravel.
As the troupe member Oksana Karnovich toured the cities of North and
South America, Africa, England, France, Italy, Japan and others
countries.
She participated in the Portugal Festival (1995), Nijinsky Festival
(1995-1996, Austria, Spain), Maya Plisetskaya's Gala (1995-1996, New
York, Moscow, St. Petersburg), Festivalsand Gala concerts (1995, 1996,
1997, 1998, 1999, Mikkeli, Finland).
In 2006 Oksana Karnovich graduated from the Institute of the Russian
Theater with the awarded qualification in specialty "Pedagogy of
Choreography".
In 2008 she graduated from the Moscow State Academy of Choreography
with honors, specializing in "History and theory of choreographic art",
specialization - ballet critic, teacher, ballet history.
Currently, O. Karnovich teaches the discipline "Samples of the
classical heritage and ballet repertoire" at the Moscow State Academy of
Choreography. She has written the programs for the courses "Pedagogy of
ballet" and "Choreography Art."
Oksana Karnovich participated in many conferences both local and
overseas, she is also the author of numerous publications and articles.
