Pak journo arrested with over Rs. 5 m worth of heroin

Excise sleuths yesterday arrested a Pakistani journalist with 1.5 Kgs of heroin in his possession at Orugodawatte. According to Deputy Excise Commissioner A Bodaragama he had been smuggling heroin for several years.

The Deputy Excise Commissioner said preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect had visited Sri Lanka several times. "He is married to a Sri Lankan and investigations are being carried out to ascertain whether he received support from Sri Lankans to carry out this racket," Bodaragama said. He said the value of the heroin in his possession exceeds Rs. 5 million.
