Rs.7 m payroll heist in Ekala

An armed gang robbed Rs. 7 million belonging to a private firm in
Ekala, Ja-Ela yesterday. According to Police spokesman SP Buddhika
Siriwardena, the money was being taken from a private Bank by a director
of the company to the factory to pay the employees' salaries when an
armed group robbed the money at gun point. The armed gang comprising
four members obstructed the director's car
at the gate of the factory before escaping with the money The company
is a leading garment manufacturer in the Gampaha district.
