Bowlers excel on day one

Both teams battled it out hard at the third cricket encounter between Sri Rahula College, Katugastota and Ranabima Royal College, Gannoruwa commenced at Asgiriya Trinity College grounds yesterday. Supun Asela, Captain of Sri Rahula after winning the toss invited Ranabima Royal to bat and got them out for a paltry score of 112. Prabath Jayaweera the skipper of Ranabima Royal scored a side saving innings of 66 with six fours, facing 97 deliveries. Non of the other batsmen entered double figures.

Nuwan Joseph of Sri Rahula bagged 5 for 31 with his left arm spinners. Ranabima Royal fought back and took eight Sri Rahula wickets for 79 runs. Off spinner S Rukshan took four wickets for six runs for Ranabima Royal.

Ranabima Royal: 112 all out in 43.1 overs (Prabath Jayaweera 66, Nuwan Joseph 5 for 31, Buddhika Randeniya 3 for 32, Ashan Herath 3 for 15) and 1 run for no loss in 1 over).

Sri Rahula: 79 for 8 wickets dec in 30 overs (I Hewage 23, Ranatunge 32, S Rukshan 4 for 6, D Priyadharshana 3 for 32).
