SriLankan to regain profitability by 2015
SriLankan Airlines was looking at breaking even
by 2015 and returning to the path of profitability, said Chairman of
the national carrier Nishantha Wickramasinghe. Speaking to Daily
News Business he said the addition of 10 new aircraft, six airbus
A330-300s and four A350-900s beginning from next year would help the
airline a great deal in achieving this target. “This deal is being
done directly and there would be a leasing financing package that
will go along with the re-fleeting. The use of the new fleet of
aircraft would also give a 40 % fuel saving to the airline,” he
said.

SriLankan Cargo records highest revenue of Rs. 12.8 bn
SriLankan Cargo, the cargo arm of SriLankan
Airlines recorded the highest revenue of Rs. 12.8 billion earned in
a single financial year in the history of the airline. It also
handled the highest tonnage of 101,000 metric tonnes this year.
SriLankan cargo has recorded an increase of 21 percent on its
revenue and also a 15 percent increase on the tonnage.

Ceylon Oxygen opens Rs 1.3 bn air separation plant
Ceylon Oxygen Limited (COL), a member of The
Linde Group, officially inaugurated its new flagship air separation
unit (ASU) installed at Sapugaskanda in Colombo. The new state of
the art air separation plant, built at an investment value of Rs 1.3
billion (EUR 9.3 million), is capable of producing 62 tons per day
(tpd) of gaseous oxygen, nitrogen and argon for the merchant gases
market.

Logiventures expands automotive logistics operations in
Hambantota
Logiventures, the logistics services subsidiary
of the Hayleys Group, has invested in eight acres of land in close
proximity to the Magam Ruhunupura Mahinda Rajapaksa Port in
Hambantota to build a state-of-the-art logistics hub to support its
vehicle transit facility, which opened there in June last year.
