Meteorology Department sources yesterday advised Navy personnel and the public not to engage in naval and fishing activities in seas 300 kilometres from

Hambantota due to a low pressure 800 kilometres away from the area. The sources also requested the the public including fisher folk to be vigilant as there could be heavy rain, lightning and strong winds.

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Ministry sources requested fishermen not to go deep sea fishing in Pottuvil, Hambantota and Galle.

Sources said this weather condition may prevail for the next few days.
