Eight- year- old W M Asitha Gimhan of 83/4 G, Galahitiyawa, Siyambalape is suffering from liver disease and is in urgent need of a transplant.

At present he is under treatment of Prof Mandika Wijeyaratne at the Professional Vascular and Transplant Unit of the National Hospital, Colombo. His parents, W M Sulalitha and Samanthi Peiris, who are in dire financial straits, appeal for financial assistance.

Death of Lawrence Fernando

The death occurred of journalist M L Lawrence Fernando (Laddy) last morning. He was 69.Apart from his being an able news writer, he also had a distinguished career as a teacher, principal, education instructor and a social worker in the Dandugama, Ja-Ela area.

He leaves his wife, Philomena Perera, a teacher and two daughters. Cortage leaves residence – 457, Dandugam Thotupola, Ja-Ela on May 9 at 4 pm for burial at Dehiyagatha Roman Catholic Cemetary.
