Road construction is in progress under the World Bank and JAICA programmes in the Akkaraipattu Municipal Council area. A supervisory committee has been appointed to monitor the construction of roads within the municipal area.

A progress review meeting on road work was held at the Municipal Council presided over by Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister A.L.M.Athaullah recently.

Eastern Province Road Development Minister M.S.Udumalebbe, Akkaraipattu Mayor Athaulla Ahamed Zackie, Municipal Members S.M.Safees and M.M.Nilam, Coordinating secretary to the minister A.B.Dawood, Coordinator of the Provincial Minister U.L.Uwais Municipal Commissioner A.L.M.Azmi, RDD chief Engineer A.M.Rizvi and Municipal Engineer A.M.M.Hakeem participated. Minister Athaullah requested contractors to complete all road works soon.
