Indika de Saram and Dilhara Lokuhettige put on a rock hard 167-run
partnership for the seventh wicket and helped Moors Sports Club recover
after they had lost six wickets for 142 at one stage. With the help of
their partnership, the visitors made 310 runs with a 248-run lead having
three wickets in hand at third day's stumps against Sinhalese Sports
Club in the Premier League final played at SSC yesterday.
Thirty-nine-year-old Saram hit 89 runs with five fours and two sixes
in 171 balls and skipper Lokuhettige smashed two sixes and nine fours
during his 78-run knock. All-rounder Lokuhettige, who was named in the
Sri Lanka's 30-member Champions Trophy pool had already taken four
wickets for 77 in SSC's first innings from his right arm fast bowling.
Resuming from the overnight score of 6 for no loss, Moors openers
Shehan Jayasuriya and Isham Ghouse added 50 runs for the first wicket in
nine overs.
Aggressive Jayasuriya was first to go as the left hander was caught
by Tharanga Paranavithana off Dhammika Prasad for 35 ending 31-ball
knock, which included five fours.
Moors lost four wickets for 64 runs in the first hour of play in the
seamer friendly SSC wicket.
Prasad, who hit a fighting 47 with the bat, removed both openers and
ended his figures as three for 61.
First innings half century maker, Chaturanga de Silva added 44 runs
for the fifth wicket with Saram and the left hander was caught behind
off Prasad for 33 runs.
Silva cracked five fours during 43-ball innings.
The fourth and decisive final day's play will start at 10am today.
