Bridge closed

The Digarolla- Moratuwa Bridge on the Colombo- Galle A2 road has been
closed by the Road Development Authority until further notice due to
renovation work which commenced yesterday, the Police Public Relations
Media Unit said.
Pedestrians, motorcyclists and three wheelers can use the bridge.
The Police request others to use alternative routes to minimise the
traffic congestion. They can use new Galle Road (from Moratuwa Kurusa
Handiya to Walana Junction , Panadura).
Appeal
K.G. Jayasena, 39, a father of one, of No 186/1, Kepitigala Yaya,
Kolombage Ara, is suffering from an end stage kidney failure and has
been recommended to undergo a kidney transplant to save his life.
His wife appeals to a person to donate a kidney of a person of the O
positive blood group. She says they are unable to foot the bill of the
treatment and requests the people to assist her husband's cause.

The 31st anniversary celebration and prize giving of Colombo Ahadiyya

Facelift for Tissa

Tissamaharama town will be given a facelift under a plan mooted by
the Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha, sources said.
As an initial step, flower and ornamental plants will be grown on
either side of the road leading to the town, PS chairman Jayaweera said.
Electricity for 11,000 families

The Power and Energy Ministry will provide electricity to 11,000
families in the Hambantota district by July next year, District
Secretary, Hambantota R C de Soysa said.
He said Rs 30,000 will be granted as a loan to each family which
should be repaid within five years.
Vocational training for disabled youths

The vocational training centre at Angunakolapelessa managed by the
Social Services Department commenced courses for disabled youths.
About 60 youths are undergoing training at the centre. Facilities
will be provided to 60 more youths for training.
Several programmes are also being held to uplift the mental stability
of the disabled.
Training programmes are being held on various occupations.

Doctors treating him have recommended an urgent kidney transplant to
save his life. Thilake Ranasinghe's wife B G Kumudu Priyadarshanee says
a donor has volunteered to donate a kidney for her husband. The surgery
is estimated to cost Rs 600,000 but they are unable to foot the bill due
to the family's present financial plight.
She requests philanthropists and the public to assist her husband's
cause by sending whatever financial contribution possible to help
expedite the surgery and save her husband's life. All contributions
should be remitted to account number 73947258 at the Bank of Ceylon,
Thihagoda branch opened in the name of her brother-in-law W A D N
Ranasinghe.

Josephian Walk
The Josephian Walk 2013 organized by the Old Girls' Association of Se
Joseph's Girls College ,Colombo 14 to raise funds for school development
will commence at 8 am on April 5 near the Sugathadasa Stadium. A
carnival will be held at the school premises after the Walk. Both events
have been organized under the guidance of Rev Sr. Mary Irangani, the
principal of the college
