Pathum pilots Joes to victory

Pathum Madusanka scored a fine half century in the St Joseph's College's 48-run win over Kalutara Vidyalaya in their Under-19 limited over tournament match played at Kalutara yesterday.

Right handed Madusanka struck eight fours and two sixes in St Joseph's 187-run innings batting first. Ruwith Kaveesha took three for 21, Vinod Rasinda (2/28) and Ruvindu Umayanga (2/19) excelled for Kalutara school to bowl out Josephians.

Chasing 188, Vidyalians were 105 for 5 when bad light stopped proceedings in 33.2 overs. Darley Road school was adjudged victorious under parabola system as they were 153 in 33.2 overs. Kasun Buddhika was unbeaten on 35. Sabian Fernando and Rashan Samrasinghe took two wickets each.

Zahira in narrow win

Shehan Weerasinghe's 51 runs and Amitha Kaushalya's brilliant bowling effort brought nine-run victory for Zahira College beating DS Senanayake College in their Under-19 limited over tournament match at Panagoda yesterday.

Batting first, Zahira made 174 all out with Weerasinghe's half ton including three fours. Shifran Mutalif and Supun Madusanka captured three wickets each.

In reply, DS Senanayake were bowled out for 165 in 41.1 overs. Amitha Kaushalya took three for 38 with his left arm spin and Salman Fazil had two for 12.

Zahira College: 174 all out in 43.3 overs (Shehan Weerasinghe 51, Nikhy Ahamed 38, Salman Fazil 22, Shifran Muthalif 3/26, Supun Madusanka 3/26)

Chemila - Peterite hero

Chemila Obeysekara's five wicket haul helped Peterite to bundle out Mahanama for a paltry 97 in their Under-19 Knockout Tournament match played at Bambalapitiya. The Peterites had no difficulty in reaching the target for the loss of four wickets to triumph by six wickets. Wicket-keeper bat Lahiru Milantha made 39 not out while opener Jason Buultjens made a fine knock of 35.
