Only four amendment Bills debated

Out of 21 financial bills presented to parliament on 8 March, only four were taken for debate yesterday as some of them were challenged before the Supreme Court.

International Monitory Corporation Minister and Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Dr Sarath Amunugama informed Parliament that since majority of the Bills have been legally challenged, the House would only debate Ports and Airports Development Levy (Amendment) Bill, Economic Service Charge (Amendment) Bill, Excise (Amendment) Bill and the Telecommunication Levy (Amendment) Bill.
