Legal officer for Parliament

Chief Government Whip and Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said in Parliament yesterday that a legal officer will be appointed to look over legal affairs of Parliament.

The House yesterday agreed to discuss at the next party leaders' meeting, the appointment of a special legal officer to sort out legal matters pertaining to Parliament. The minister said he discussed with the the Opposition Leader in this regard. He added that the party leaders have powers to come to an agreement in this regard. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa said the matter should be expedited.
