Best voice forward
Angu Rajendran
Since time immemorial human beings have been communicating through
body and voice to convey thoughts, ideas and expression. However, with
the advent of technology, in the form of facebook, sms messages and
email, communication as we traditionally know, has taken a definite
downturn.
Along with it, an understanding of people, self-confidence, the
ability to present oneself to others and the art of communication itself
has taken a nose-dive making ‘virtual’ reality the norm. However, the
Performance Arts Festival that is organized by VOF is going to change
all that.
The Voice Over Festiva (VOF)l of Performing Arts is one of the most
distinguished Festivals in the Field of Performing Arts in Sri Lanka. It
is a member of the British Arts Festivals Association, (BAFA) UK. BAFA
is U.K’s longest established Festival Network covering the widest span
of arts festivals in the United Kingdom. The VOF insist that though the
festival will have the most distinguished judge Dr. John Beilby BMus,
PhD, GLCM, FLCM, LRAM, LTCL, Hon. FIEMS to assess the performances, the
festival is not an examination.
The adjudicator Dr John Beilby will inspire greater appreciation of
the work being performed through remarks made both in public and on the
written sheet for each performer.
The evaluation of each performance is to encourage the development of
individual taste and judgment in the minds of the listeners while
providing constructive criticism where necessary, to lift the general
standards of performance. The Voice over Festival will strive to raise
the standards in amateur work throughout the country with the help of
skilled adjudicators.
