Hemas invests Rs 1.4 bn in Thalawathugoda hospital

Hemas Hospitals (Pvt) Ltd would invest Rs. 1.4 billion on its latest
hospital in Thalawathugoda which is scheduled to be opened in six weeks’
time. This new facility will have 60 beds equipped with state of the art
facilities meeting international standards.

“This newest facility is situated close to the Thalawathugoda
junction. The 62,000 square feet multi-speciality patient care building
will be fully equipped to meet the needs of the clients. The hospital
will include modern operating theatres, delivery rooms with neo-natal
care, an intensive care unit, a 24 hour emergency care unit, a high tech
24 hour laboratory with the latest sophisticated MRI and CT scanners,”
General Manager, Hemas Hospitals Thalawathugoda, Dr. Chamila Ariyananda
said. The hospital will offer both in-patient and out-patient facilities
while promising minimum amount of patient time, while this hospital will
be one of the multi-specialty hospital chain that is situated in the
suburbs of Sri Lanka.
“At the moment we are maintaining two other hospitals in Wattala and
Galle along with seven laboratories. The investment laid on this
complete venture is Rs. 4 billion. The specialty of this hospital chain
is that it is catered for the many people living in the sub urban areas.
We even have had discussions with the communities in those areas before
starting operations at the hospital as we need to focus on their needs,”

According to Esufally, Thalawathugoda hospital will have the capacity
to treat many thousands of patients a year. It will also have the
advantage of their own training center coupled with their own nursing
educator to deliver excellent nursing care.
Hemas Hospitals while concentrating mainly on the upcoming opening
plans to have yet another hospital in the Moratuwa Ratmalana area. The
land acquisition has been completed. The next stage is under discussion.
Hemas hospitals presently caters to 400,000 out-door patients and 15,000
in-house patients each year. According to Esufally they plan in going
into larger hospitals that will have 500 to 600 beds.
