Mahaweli House champions

Mahaweli House with points tally of 317 and a fine overall display
emerged the house championship at the annual Primary Inter House Sports
meet of Bandarawela Tamil Central College which was held at the college
ground recently.

The victorious Mahaweli House accumulated 317 points and overcame the
threat posed by Nile House which secured second place with 286 points
overall. Whereas, Volga House which came third obtained 257 points
overall.
Nile House dominated all the age group championship by winning five
titles each and Volga and Nile swept two different age group
championship titles each.
K. Saranavi of Nile house and M. Ethurshana of Volga house were
adjudged joint champions in the under 11 age group. S. Yakshitha and
M.Shashini of Nile house were adjudged joint champions in the under 10
age group while S. Dhushyanth of Mahaweli house and C. Pradeep of Nile
house dominated the under 10 age group. V.Radursana of Mahaweli house
and R. Ramyapriya of Volga house also swept the under 09 championship
while A. Abilash of Nile house was also adjudged the champion in the
under 11 age group. Over 500 pupils participated in the sports meet
representing three houses; Mahaweli, Nile and Volga.
The sports meet was well organized with the leadership and guidance
of the college P.T.I Mallika Rathnalatha and the primary sectional head
Zahirin. Minister of Youth affairs, sports, electricity and petroleum,
Estate infrastructure and handloom Senthil Thondaman was the chief guest
while guest of honour was Deshabandu Chaminda Wijesiri, the Mayor of
Bandarawela Municipal Council. Members of S.D.S. Old students, well
wishers and parents were also present. |
